American Legion shows support for FBFD

Galion’s American Legion, Scarbrough Post 243 was the first to support the Friends of the Galion Big Four Depot (FBFD) at a five-year business level, a new category of membership created by the preservation group whose mission is to focus on the re-use and restoration of the 1900 Queen Anne-style passenger depot.

Second and third to join were Phil’s Deli and Fox Plumbing & Heating. Business members will receive a framed supporter certificate to display in their lobby.

Carol Kable, president of the non-profit organization, stated this new business membership level is ideal for businesses because the cost isn’t expensive, and “they will keep abreast of what we are doing—projects and upcoming events—for the next five years.”

The FBFD has had motor coach trips to passenger rail-related activities, has hosted Depot Day and other presentations in the past several years, and raised money for the restoration of the stained glass windows in the depot. Plans are for more specific projects in the future.

For more information, connect with FBFD on Facebook or call 419-468-2944.
