Vintage motorcycle racers, collectors, restorers, enthusiasts and dreamers will be in motorcycling swap-meet heaven this July 10-12 during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, a summer vintage motorcycling festival in northern Ohio, will host one of the largest swap meets ever at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The AMA Motorcycle Days Swap Meet, presented by Federal Motorcycle Transport, will welcome hundreds of vendors and thousands of buyers as they converge at the country’s grandest celebration of motorcycle heritage.

“AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days includes everything from racing to demo rides to bike shows, but for many attendees, the AMA Motorcycle Days Swap Meet, presented by Federal Motorcycle Transport, is the top attraction,” said Jeff Massey, chief operations officer for the American Motorcyclist Association. “We all love to see the old bikes out on the track, but there’s something special about rebuilding one of your own, especially if it’s a bike that you remember from when you started riding.”

Massey added that swap meet vendor applications indicate that this will be one of the biggest swap meets the AMA has ever hosted, if not the biggest.

“The swap meet takes up about 20 acres of property at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course,” Massey said. “For shoppers, you never know where in those 20 acres you’ll find the bike or part you want. Whether you’re after a new-old-stock piston kit, a seat cover, vintage-style riding gear, wheel hubs, a fuel tank, a service manual or even a complete bike, you’ll find it here. You may have to spend some time looking for it, but that’s half the fun and you’re sure to find it and more!”

As in recent years, the AMA will staff a location at the north entrance of the swap meet — “Swap Meet Central” — where attendees can get information, view a diagram of the swap meet and get insight into where they are most likely to find a certain part.

This location also will host the AMA Used Bike Corral, which is a free centralized spot where anyone can park a used, operational bike for sale. Hang tags will be provided so sellers can provide clear pricing and contact information.

Vendors can purchase swap meet space on location on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to access to a huge crowd of vintage enthusiasts, vendors will be invited to the vendor-only picnic, sponsored by Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Dave Aldana is the grand marshal for AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days this year. One of the most colorful personalities in racing, Aldana teamed with Mike Baldwin to win the prestigious Suzuka eight-hour endurance race in 1981 as a Honda factory rider. He also was one of the most versatile racers in history, competing in nearly every form of motorcycle racing, including motocross and speedway racing.

For 2015, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum. AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is a fundraiser for the facility, which houses the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame and other thematic exhibits that celebrate motorcycling’s heritage.

The museum was founded in 1990 to provide a permanent home to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, which celebrates and preserves the rich tradition of motorcycling in America through the recognition of the sport’s greatest heroes. Proceeds from AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days are donated to the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization tasked with funding the operation of the museum and Hall of Fame activities.

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days includes North America’s largest motorcycle swap meet with parts, bikes and memorabilia from all eras. Bike shows bring out examples of some of history’s most beloved motorcycles, while stunt shows, such as the American Motor Drome Wall of Death, and demo rides of current production bikes keep attendees entertained. Seminars feature some of the country’s leading experts on numerous motorcycling topics.

It all adds up to one of motorcycling’s premier events. Purchase tickets now from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
