Swimming: Tigers defeat Redmen

The Colonel Crawford swimming team were the winners at its own Eagle Sprint meet on Saturday.

The team grabbed 14 first-place finishes, as well as 11 second- and eight third-place finishes for a combined total of 898 points between the boys and girls.

Colonel Crawford tallied 460 points for the boys to win. Taking first were Ryan Johnson (50-yard breaststroke), Jake Johnson (25 free, 50 butterfly), Grant Pfeifer (100 freestyle) and Nic Motter (100 butterfly).

The Eagles won all three relay events with an average of 12.97 seconds. Jacob Roesch, Ryan Johnson, Jake Johnson and Pfeifer finished the 200 medley relay in 1:54.38, while Roesch, Motter, Pfeifer and Johnson won the 200 free with a time of 1:39.65. In the 400 free relay, Ken Fernandez, Keton Pfeifer, Alex Hershey and Motter sported a 4:02.76 compared with Pleasant’s time of 4:29.40.

The Lady Eagles totaled 438 points. Grabbing individual first-place finishes were Chloe Grove (100 free), Pierce Krassow (50 free) and Jillianne Gregg (25 free).

In relays, the girls 200 medley team of Megan Sharp, Kennedy Speck, Gregg and Krassow recorded 2:02.47 for first place. Madison Sharp, Krassow, Gregg and Grove also took first in the 200 free (1:46.77) as did the 400 team of Kacey Gardner, Megan Sharp, Madison Sharp and Grove (4:11.79).

Bucyrus finished in sixth place with 48 points, while Crestline finished seventh with 46 points and Wynford at ninth with 34 points.

Blaise Bloomfield notched the top spot for Bucyrus, placing fifth in the boys 25 free and 50 butterfly.

Notching the top spot for Crestline were Michaela Jeffrey, who placed seventh in the girls 100 IM, and Timmy Tompkins, who placed seventh in the boys 25 free.

The girls 200 free relay team of Jeffrey, Courtney Swanger, Abbi Stair and Kinsey Kenison placed seventh.

Colonel Crawford will host a tri-meet, which will include Wynford, on Jan. Thursday, while Crestline will compete against Loudonville on Saturday. The Bulldogs will also compete against Bucyrus again, who will host a quad-meet on Jan. 27.
