Boys basketball: Bucks defeat Big Red

The Buckeye Central boys basketball team narrowly defeated Plymouth 49-48 in a non-conference game on Saturday.

The Bucks had 24-19 lead at halftime over the Big Red.

Buckeye Central made 18 of 52 shots and 11 of 19 free throws, while Plymouth shot 18 of 44 and made 8 of 15 free throws.

The Bucks lost the second half to the Big Red 29-25.

Both teams had 35 rebounds. Buckeye Central had eight turnovers, while the Plymouth had 12.

Jacob Shade had a solid night leading the Bucks with a game high of 21 points, while Grant Loy added 14 points including a 3-pointer.

Remmington Smedley led the Big Red with 12 pointers, while Austin Nestor and Dodge Collins added nine points each.

Buckeye Central (6-4, 4-2 N10) will host Wynford on Friday.

Crestline Bulldogs

The Crestline boys basketball team lost to the Mansfield Christian Flames 76-32 on Monday.

The Bulldogs trailed the Flames 35-17 at halftime.

Crestline shot 11 of 39 and made 10 of 20 free throws, while Mansfield Christian made 27 of 55 shots and 15 of 18 free throws.

The Flames defeated the Bulldogs 41-15 in the second half.

Crestline had 25 rebounds and 26 turnovers, while the Flames had 37 rebounds and 13 turnovers.

Davon Tripplet led the Bulldogs with 13 points.

Brandon Mount led the Flames with 21 points.

Crestline also suffered a 83-36 road conference defeat against St. Peter’s on Saturday.

The Bulldogs trailed the Spartans 42-16 at halftime.

Crestline shot 13 of 46 and made 8 of 18 free throws, while St. Peter’s made 33 of 66 shots and 14 of 24 free throws.

The Bulldogs lost the second half to the Spartans 41-20.

Crestline had 32 rebounds and 27 turnovers, while St. Peter’s had 48 rebounds and 11 turnovers.

Kevin Winkler and Davon Triplett led the Bulldogs with nine points each.

For the Spartans, Elijah Cobb led the team with a game high of 21 points.

Crestline (0-8, 0-4 Mid-Buckeye Conference) will travel to play Mohawk in non-conference play on Friday.

Wynford Royals

The Wynford boys basketball team was defeated by New London 60-39 on Saturday.

The Royals trailed the Wildcats 33-21 in the first half of the game.

Wynford shot 12 of 43 and made 9 of 15 free throws, while New London shot 20 of 45, making 13 of 17 charity shots.

The Royals lost the second half to the Wildcats 27-18.

Wynford had 24 rebounds and 10 turnovers, while New London had 31 rebounds and 13 turnovers.

Alex Crall led the Royals with 13 points, while Braxton Tea added nine.

For the Wildcats, Karson Howell and Ryan Lane led all scorers with 15 points each.

Wynford (5-5, 3-3 N10) will travel to play Buckeye Central (6-4, 4-2 N10) in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference on Friday.
