Girls basketball: Bucyrus breaks losing streak

Buckeye Central Buckettes

The Buckeye Central girls basketball team lost a road game in the Northern 10 Conference against Upper Sandusky 61-44 Tuesday evening.

The Buckettes had 14 shots and 11 free throws, while the Lady Rams made 25 shots and four free throws.

Haley Green led Buckeye Central with 10 points including two 3-pointers, while Erin Baldosser added eight points and Jenna Karl tallied seven.

The Buckettes trailed Upper Sandusky 31-22 at halftime.

For the Rams, Abigail Fogle dropped 27 points on Buckeye Central including five 3-pointers. Sierra Carey added nine points and Megan Hensel had eight.

The Buckettes (1-2, 0-2 N10) will play conference foe Ridgedale Saturday afternoon.

Bucyrus Redmen

The Bucyrus girls basketball team broke its losing streak by defeating Mohawk 50-42 in conference play Tuesday evening.

The Lady Redmen made 17 shots and 13 free throws, while the Lady Warriors had 14 shots and 14 free throws.

Kelci Simms led the Lady Redmen with 16 points including four free throws, while Shaina Orewiler added 13 points including two 3-pointers.

For Mohawk, Ally Weinandy led all scorers with 19 points including seven free throws, while Beth Dundore had seven and Katie Pinkston tallied six including four free throws.

Bucyrus (1-3, 1-1 N10) will travel to Colonel Crawford for its third conference game Saturday afternoon.

Colonel Crawford Eagles

The Colonel Crawford girls basketball team lost its second conference game of the season against Seneca East with a 66-37 home defeat Tuesday evening.

The Lady Eagles made 15 shots and four free throws, while the Lady Tigers had 25 shots and eight free throws.

Alexus Burkhart led the Eagles with 13 points including two 3-pointers, while Lexi Hoepf added seven points and Abbi Teglovic tallied six.

For the Tigers, Seina Adachi led all scorers with 19 points including a 3-pointer and two free throws. Megan Siesel and CJ Linkey had 12 points each.

Colonel Crawford’s girls (3-4, 1-2 N10) will host to play conference rival Bucyrus on Saturday.

Crestline Bulldogs

The Crestline girls basketball team’s losing streak continues with a 46-20 home loss to conference foe Central Christian Tuesday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs made seven of 44 shots and four of 11 free throws, while the Lady Comets made 20 of 58 shots and five of 15 free throws.

Central Christian had a 21-9 lead at halftime.

Carrie Hamsher led the Comets with nine points, while Laura Troyer added eight points.

Crestline (0-6) will host to play conference foe Lucas on Dec. 17.

Northmor Knights

The Northmor girls basketball team lost to River Valley 67-61 in a non-conference home game Tuesday evening.

The Lady Knights made 22 shots and 11 of 16 free throws, while the Lady Vikings had 28 shots and made all seven free throws.

Karalee Patterson led the Knights with 24 points and two 3-pointers. Karlee Carroll had 16 points, while Madison Swihart had 15 points including three 3-pointers.

Kendal Stuckman led River Valley with 27 points. Jensen Lewis and Morgan Lott each added 15 points.

Northmor (3-3, 2-1 Mid Ohio Athletic Conference) will host to play conference foe Cardington (5-0, 3-0 MOAC) on Friday.

Wynford Royals

The Wynford girls basketball team fell to conference foe Carey with a 69-45 home loss Tuesday evening.

The Lady Royals made 15 of 45 shots, 12 of 20 free throws and 45 rebounds, while the Lady Blue Devils shot 17 of 42, made 14 of 16 free throws along with 36 rebounds.

Jade Stuckman led Wynford scorers with 11 points including a 3-pointer, while Maci Cooper and Gretchen Harris added nine points. Cooper and Olivia Grove both made three free throws.

Carey had 44-20 lead at halftime but were tied with the Royals in the second half at 25 points. The Blue Devils had 10 turnovers, while Wynford had 20.

For Carey, Sydney Wentling led all scorers with 25 points including four 3-pointers and three free throws. Shebly Kin added 19 points and Destiny DeFeo made three 3-pointers for nine points.

The Royals (2-4, 1-2 N10) will travel to play conference foe Mohawk on Saturday.
