Wynford looks to maintain its top spot in the playoffs of the Division VI, Region 20.

The No. 1 seed Royals (9-1) will host the No. 8 seed Delta Panthers (6-4) at 7 p.m. today.

“We’re really excited to be back in the postseason,” said Wynford head football coach Gabe Helbert.

Last year, the Royals lost its third postseason game to Tinora with a 17-0 rout.

The Royals displayed a strong offense with its running and passing game during the regular season. Quarterback Zach Hoffman is 63-of-102 for 1,114 yards passing for 16 touchdowns and three interceptions this season. He also had 142 carries for 1,153 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns.

“They will be a formidable team,” said Delta head football coach Jeff Wolford.

“We obviously think we can win,” he added. “(But) it’s going to be a tall task.”

Helbert said Wynford is confident and will compete to the best of its ability.

“(Delta) is a very talented football team,” he said.
