Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course announces that The Honda Indy 200 will return to the historic track, July 29-31, 2016, as part of its 55th anniversary season.

The Verizon IndyCar Series will headline the weekend’s activities with Ohio native Graham Rahal returning to defend his memorable 2015 win at his home track.

“We had one of our best events in recent history this past year,” said Craig Rust, President of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “Having Graham in Victory Lane capped off a great weekend and we can’t wait to build on last year’s success, and to once again host one of the Verizon IndyCar Series’ best events in 2016.”

“I am thrilled that Mid-Ohio is back once again. After our great victory there in 2015, I can’t wait to get back and try to double up next year,” said Graham Rahal, Verizon IndyCar Series driver of the #15 Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. “Being my home track there are so many great memories, but our win will always be at the top of my list and all of the fans that came out and supported us made it even more special. I’m very proud to be a past winner there and I can’t wait to get back racing at my home track in July.”

Young drivers looking to reach the Verizon IndyCar Series will also be showcased during The Honda Indy 200 as the entire Mazda Road to Indy ladder series will return, which includes Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires and the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda.

The Pirelli World Challenge, a fan favorite with its intense on-track competition, will complement the weekend’s line-up.

Additional spectator event weekends and ticket sales for the 2016 season at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will be announced in the coming months.
