Former Buckeye Matt Finkes to speak at Knox County event

Matt Finkes was an All-Big Ten, All-American who went on to play five seasons in the NFL.


MOUNT VERNON – The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Knox County invites the public to attend the annual Buckeye Spirit Event Oct. 20 at the Ohio Eastern Star Glenn A. Gallagher Center on Gambier Road. Social time begins at 4:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 6 p.m.

Local sports radio personality and OSU fan Dave Bevington will introduce this year’s featured speaker, former OSU defensive end Matt Finkes. Matt was an All-Big Ten, All-American who went on to play five seasons in the NFL. He is currently a talk show host on WZOH (95.5 FM) radio and a Studio Analyst for The Football Fever on ABC 6 in Columbus.

The evening will also feature a tailgate meal and festivities plus an appearance by the OSU Marching Band and Buckeyeman. A scholarship fundraising auction will also be held at this family-friendly event.

Cost is $30 per person. There will be ten guests per table. Tickets will be available at Mohican Sports Medicine at 112 Harcourt Road, Suite 1, Mount Vernon, Oct. 1-9.
