Colonel Crawford improved to 2-0 in the 2015 boys golf season after an easy win over Riverdale on Monday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. Led by Nick Gremling’s round of 45, the Eagles recorded a team score of 192, while Riverdale carded a 248.
Gremling, a junior, earned the match medal by shooting even-par on holes No. 3, No. 7, No. 8 and No. 9. Senior Isaak Sulser, a two-year letter winner, shot 47, and Jake Roesch finished with a round of 48 to help the Eagles’ cause.
Junior Austin Strouse carded a 52. Eli Shultz shot 54 and Devin Clayton finished with a round of 64 for the Eagles.
Harlan Roby was the top player for Riverdale (0-1), finishing with a 50 on the day. No other Falcons player broke 60.
Colonel Crawford junior varsity players recorded the following scores on Monday at Sycamore Springs: Jake Rahm, 56; Makalah Trubee, 62; and Tyson Russell, 65.
The Eagles will be back in action Tuesday when they take on Plymouth at 10 a.m. at Woody Ridge Golf Course.
The black and g0ld opens Northern 10 Athletic Conference play on Wednesday with a home match against Wynford. Tee time is 10 a.m. at Valley View Golf Course in Galion.
Colonel Crawford plays Galion on Thursday. Match time at the Galion Country Club is 4 p.m.
Colonel Crawford 205, Mansfield Senior 214
Colonel Crawford opened the season with a 9-shot victory over Mansfield Senior on Friday at Valley View Golf Course in Galion. The Eagles topped the Tygers, 205-214.
Mansfield Senior’s Zach Blank earned medalist honors after carding a 45. Blank recorded a birdie on the No. 3 hole and shot even-par on No. 4 and No. 7.
Colonel Crawford’s Isaac Sulser shot 47. He carded a birdie on No. 4 and shot par on No. 2 and No. 7.
Nick Gremling finished with a 50 for the Eagles and Austin Stouse shot 52. Devin Clayton carded a 56 and Jake Roesch finished at 57. Eli Shulz shot 62.
The rest of the Mansfield Senior scorecard included Dyllen Dudley shooting 50, Joseph Galloway carding a 58, Shannon Kiah finishing with a 61 and Jacob Miller turning in a round of 63.
Colonel Crawford will play Riverdale on Monday at Sycamore Springs Golf Club in Arlington. Tee time is 10 a.m.
