BALTIMORE — On Tuesday, the Northmor Lady Golden Knights softball team began their Division III tournament run with a trip to Liberty Union High School to meet up with the Lady Lions.

Northmor, the No. 14 seed in the Pickerington II district dropped their contest to the No. 9 Lady Lions by a final of 7-1.

Liberty Union got on the board quickly, scoring four runs in the home half of the first and would tack on another run in the third. An additional two runs in the bottom of the fifth put the Lions up 7-0. Northmor would manage a run in the visiting half of the final inning to avoid the shutout.

The Golden Knights had just three hits on the day and committed an error in the field while stranding four on the base path. The Lady Lions scored their seven runs on 11 hits and had one error while leaving five on base.

Shelbey Lilly was the losing pitcher for the contest, throwing six innings, allowing the 11 hits, seven runs (five earned) while walking a batter, fanning three hitters and giving up two homeruns.

Northmor’s minimal offensive output was provided by Andrea Weis, Aly Blunk and Lindsey Wiseman. Weis delivered a solo blast in the seventh for the lone run while Blunk and Wiseman both recorded a single apiece.

Although the postseason run has concluded for the Knights, they will play one final game on Friday May 12 when they travel to Sparta for one final meeting with Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Blue Division foe, the Highland Lady Fighting Scots.
