Galion rallies past Northmor in softball action

GALION — Galion rallied Monday for a 6-4 win over Northmor in high school softball action.

Galion upped its record to 14-10. Northmor drops to 10-12.

Madelyn Thomas earned the win for the Lady Tigers, going seven innings and allowing 10 hits and four earned runs, while striking out three batters. Shelbey Lilly was on the losing end for the Lady Knights, also pitching the entire game. She allowed six runs and ten hits while and walked one.

Thomas also had a good day at the plate Galion, going 4/4 and driving in two runs while scoring a run to help her cause.

Gabby Kaple also delivered two hits for Galion, both singles. Emily Sedmak belted a double for her only hit and Kate Schieber came through with a triple. Dusty Thomas and Nevaeh Clark rounded out the Tigers’ offense with a single apiece.

Cristianna Boggs, Andrea Weis and Aly Blunk had multi-hit games for Northmor. Weis and Lily Tate delivered two RBIs apiece for the Knights in their four-run first inning.

Galion awaits the winner of the sectional game between Margaretta and Bucyrus. The Polar Bears and the Redmen play this afternoon. If Margaretta wins the contest, the Lady Tigers will travel there for the Friday’s sectional final game, at 5 pm. If Bucyrus pulls off the upset, Galion will host the Redmen, also at 5 p.m.

Northmor is on the road at Liberty Union today in the sectional tournament. If the Knights advance, they will travel to Utica for the sectional final on Thursday, May 11. The Lady Knights final regular-season game is a Friday trip to Highland.
