MANSFIELD — Colonel Crawford finished off its regular season on the road Thursday, falling to Mansfield St. Peter’s 43-38. With the loss, Crawford drops to 11-11.

At the end of the first quarter, the contest was knotted up at 10 points apiece. Crawford set the tone in the second quarter, adding 15 more points before halftime to the Lady Spartans’ six. Coming out in the third with a far-from-comfortable 25-16 lead, the Lady Eagles’ offense went flat.

St. Peter’s outscored Crawford 13-5 in the third to cut the Eagles’ lead to 30-29s. The Spartans had a 14-8 mark in the final period to account for the five-point victory margin.

Alexus Burkart and Ashley Gwirtz were top scorers for Crawford, with 17 and 16 points respectively. Danielle Horsley had three points on the night and Abbie Teglovic wrapped the Lady Eagles’ scoring with two points.

Makenzie Hendrickson was the only Lady Spartans player in double figures on the night, scoring 15 points in the win.

With the regular season behind them, the Colonel Crawford squad looks forward to postseason tournament play. On Tuesday Feb. 21, the Lady Eagles will travel to Willard High School to meet up with Seneca East, which has beaten Crawford twice this season in N-10 action.
