Galion Tigers bowling season keeps on rolling

GALION — The newly-formed varsity bowling teams for Galion High School have been busy so far this year.

Both the boys and girls teams began their seasons Nov.19 in Galion at the Victory Lanes Warm-up Tourney.

On Tuesday, the teams competed in their third match.

The boys teams is 2-1 after defeating the Pleasant Spartans in a Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference matchup. Galion’s boys outrolled the Spartans 1,948-1,501. The high game bowled for the competition was from Austin Rinehart, who rolled a 222.

Previously, the boys began their regular season on Monday Nov.21 against MOAC members River Valley. That match was won by the Vikings, 1,759-1,741. Austin Rinehart was the high roller for this match as well, with a 256. On Monday Nov.28, Galion defeated Cardington 1,886-1,840. Once again it was Rinehart with the top score, with a 194.

The girls squad for Galion recently added a few athletes to the team. Seniors Abby Barre and Alexis Hadamuscin now take to the lanes for coach Bobby Lear. The Lady Tigers bowlers have yet to win and sit at 0-3.

Pleasant defeated Galion on Tuesday by a score of 1,451-1,372. The top series for this match came from Brooklyn Potter.

Against River Valley, Galion bowled its closest match of the season, but fell to the Vikings, 1,171-1,092. Sara Misura had the top series for the Tigers with a 278. Cardington ran away with a victory over Galion on Monday, winning 1,686-1,327. Misura once again claimed the highest two-game series, rolling a 292.

The season will roll on for the Tigers’ bowling teams on Friday Dec .2 when they play host to the Jonathon Alder Pioneers at Victory Lanes.
