Tigers tennis team wins again

DELAWARE — Galion’s girls tennis was in Delaware on Thursday and defeated Buckeye Valley 4-1 in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Divsion action.

In singles, Kayley Gimbel was once again slated at first singles for Galion and continued her perfect season by winning 6-0, 6-0. Gimbel is now 10-0. Katherine Talbott is now 9-2 on the season after handing her Barons opponent a straight set loss 6-0, 6-0. Jalyn Oswald also won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 to boost her record to 10-2 on the year.

Kiersten Gifford and Marissa Breinich found themselves in a bit of a marathon match against the Barons but walked away from the court with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. Danielle Schneider and Katie Baughn were in action at second doubles but came up short 5-7, 6-4 and 5-10.

Galion returns to action Saturday at the six team Bucyrus Invite. The Tigers are 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the MOAC.
