Galion volleyball falls to Pleasant

GALION — The Marion Pleasant Spartans were in town to take on the hometown Galion Tigers volleyball team Thursday. The Spartans were too much for the Tigers and defeated Galion in straight sets, 28-26, 25-16 and 25-17.

Defense was strong for the Tigers on the court. Galion recorded 48 digs over the three sets. Chloe McCleese recorded 12 of those digs and Ashley Flowers had 10.

Serving remained a strong point for the Tigers. Galion was 54/56 serving on the night with 24 points and four aces. Kasidee Sinclair was a perfect 12/12 serving with five points and two aces. Callie Wildenthaler was again the top server for the Tigers. Over the duration of the match, Wildenthaler was 15/15 serving with 10 points. She also contributed 14 of the 48 digs on defense.

Morgan Gregory was the teams top ball handler, going 84/85 with 22 of the Tigers 24 assists. The team as a whole was 102/105 ball handling on the evening.

Top attackers for the team were Gabby Abouhassan and Marissa Gwinner. Abouhassan was 15/17 hitting with 10 kills. Gwinner added 23/29 on the attack with seven kills. Galion had a team total of 28 kills.

Galion falls to 2-3 on the year and 1-2 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division.
