Tigers win, turn in lowest team golf score since 2013

CALEDONIA — Galion’s boys golf team had an impressive showing at Whetstone Golf Course in Caledonia on Tuesday when took on the Vikings from River Valley.

The Tigers were victorious, 169-183. All six of Galion golfers were neck and neck. Jack McElligott led the way with a 41. Mitch Dyer and Matt Kingseed both shot 42 while Nick Kruger rounded out the scoring with a 44. The two drop scores were Brevin Owens and Kaleb Harsh, both shooting 45. The 169 score from the Tigers is the lowest 9-hole score Galion has recorded since 2013.

The junior varsity also came away with a victory, 211-228. Leading the ways for the Tigers was Colten Skaggs with a 53. Alec Dicus (53), Aaron Barnhart (54) and Gage Lackey (55) rounded out the scoring for the jayvees. Markis Lawson (56) and Sam Rigdon (57) had the drop scores.
