Lady Tigers shut out Royals in sectionals

The Tigers got out to an early lead on Wynford and cruised to a 9-0 victory in the Sectional Semi Final game Tuesday at Galion.

The game was rained out Tuesday but continued Wednesday.

The contest was decided quickly as the Tigers scored early with seven runs in the first three innings.

A sacrifice fly by Gabby Kaple, an RBI single by Alyeena Truman, an RBI single by Sophie Carson, and an RBI double by Dani Schieber during the first inning and an RBI single by Kaple in the second inning helped the Tigers get the win.

The Lady Tigers were led by Schieber’s hitting. Schieber went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run.

The Tigers Emily Sedmak kept Wynford (1-22) off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out four.

Taylor Carver was charged with the loss. She allowed nine runs in six innings, walked three and struck out none.

Galion’s record improved 6-13 overall. The Lady Tigers will play Colonel Crawford (21-2) on Friday.
