Galion softball, tennis add wins

Emily Sedmak struck out 10 batters to get the Tigers win. Sedmak allowed two earned runs, six hits and one walk over seven innings.

Gabby Kaple collected three hits, sparking the Tigers to a 7-3 victory in seven innings over Pleasant on Monday at Galion.

She doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the third and sixth innings.

Waddell took the loss for Pleasant . She allowed six runs in four innings, walked one and struck out three.

The top of the first saw Pleasant take an early lead, 2-0. Pleasant’s rally started when Massey singled. A stolen base then moved Massey from first to second. Pelfrey singled, scoring Massey. Then Pelfrey scored on an error.

The Tigers got one-run in the first, fourth and fifth. In the first, the Tigers scored on a groundout by Jaime Ehrman, bringing home Dusty Thomas.

The Tigers increased their lead with two runs in the sixth. The inning started with Dani Schieber hitting a single and Thomas moved her to second with a sac bunt. Jaime Ehrman got on with an RBI single and Aleena Truman hit a fly ball to deep center to score Kaple.

Galion will host Wynford on May 10 in the sectionals.

Galion boys tennis

Galion tennis hosted Marion Harding at Heise park and Galion came away with a 5-0 victory to sweep the season series with Harding. Tanner Amos at one singles won 6-2 6-4 to improve to 8-7 on the season. Lucas Conner at two singles won 6-0 6-2 for his 8th on the season. Tristan Baldy at 3 singles picked up his 13th win against 4 losses on the season with a 6-4 6-2 win. First doubles of Nic Oehler/Matt Sparks won 6-2 6-4 for their 9th win. Second doubles team of Landon Rose/Dustin Breedlove won 6-4 6-2 for Galion’s fifth point and the team win. Galion will host Upper Sandusky on Wednesday at Heise Park in non-conference play.
