Galion High School's annual spring musical ~ 1776

Galion High School's annual spring musical ~ 1776 -- was performed on March 19, 20 and 21 in the Galion High School cafetorium.
1776 is a Tony-award-winning musical that was first produced on Broadway in 1969. Its music and lyrics were written by Sherman Edwards and the book was written by Peter Stone. The musical's subject matter is the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

In this irreverent version of the Founding Fathers' actions during the Second Continental Congress, John Adams (portrayed in the GHS production by student Ben Longstreth) is the main character -- and he is none too popular among his fellow delegates.

With costumes and wigs provided by the Galion Community Theatre, Just Pretend Costume Shop, the Kuhns family and Arlene Main, the cast brought history to life with flair and humor.

A strong supporting cast of talented students made director Cheri Laughbaum and musical directors Rick Walker and Brian Treisch -- as well as the actors' families and other fans -- proud.
