Galion, Northmor players on AAU basketball team

CINCINNATI —The Mid Ohio Magic Basketball Association 15U AAU basketball team played in the 2017 Cincinnati Bearcat Classic this past weekend, with over 40 teams just in the 15U bracket.

That team includes Galion’s Isaiah Alsip and Zhamir Anderson and Northmor’s Blake Miller and Trevor Gekler. The team finished third in its division. The team is coached by Jason Rice of Shelby and Matt Jacobs of Galion. The 15U Magic are 14-2 this season after three weekends of tournament play. Tournament play continues through the summer with seven more tournaments across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Virginia.

County sends 5 to Special Olympics

BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Chargers sent 4 bowlers to compete in the Area 5 Bowling Tournament that took place at Heritage Lanes in Tiffin, Ohio on Friday, April 7.

The bowlers competed in different divisions based on their age, sex, and entry scores. Each bowler bowled two games.

Peggy Benedict competed in Division 3 and finished with a score of 122, good for fourth place in her division. Deb Dunbar competed in Division 2 and finished with a score of 103, good for fifth in her division. Jeremia Gale competed in Division 8 and finished with a score of 131, which was sixth in his division. Also, Nate Metzger competed in Division 8 and finished with a score of 169, which was good for a third-place finish in his division.

Congratulations go out to these Special Olympians for their efforts in representing the Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Bowling associations meeting April 25 in Bucyrus

BUCYRUS — There will be a meeting of the Crawford County USBC, the Galion WBA and the Bucyrus WBA on Tuesday April 25 for the purpose of electing officers and directors for our newly merged associations. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Suburban Lanes. All interested bowlers are urged to attend.

GALION — Golfers are needed for the Tri City Golf League at Valley View Golf Course. The league plays on Monday evenings. Singles, as well as, four-man teams are being accepted.
