In their first Mid Ohio Athletic Conference match ever, the Lady Tigers knocked out visiting Pleasant 3-0 Tuesday evening at the high school.
The Lady Tigers won the first game 25-19 before taking games two and three by identical 25-17 scores.
Reanne Neal tallied 10 points, knocked down a dozen kills and blocked a pair of shots for the locals. Also for the winners, Taylor Valentine recorded 18 kills in 32 attempts and had 10 receptions and 9 digs; Addison Zeisler dished out 32 assists; Clair Erlsten had 15 receptions and 6 digs; Lyndsay McMullen garnered a dozen receptions and 7 digs; and Bradlee Saterfield tallied 12 points.
In the Forest Pruner Invitational hosted by Ashland Crestview High School last weekend, thye Lady Tigers ran their way to first place with 59 points, outscoring Crestview, Loudonville, Mansfield St. Peter, Mapleton and Marion Harding.
Top times for the champions were: Sammy Gates, 24:00; Michaela Slone, 25:37; Justine Yunker, 25:38; Lauren Huggins, 26:43; plus Abby Barre and Megan Zier, both at 26:56.
In the boys’ competition, the race was cancelled mid-way through because olf lightening.
In middle school action, the Galion boys finished first. Individual results were not turned in to the newspaper.
BOYS’ VARSITY GOLF
The Tigers didn’t fare well in Mid Ohio Athletic Conference competition this week. Wednesday, they lost to River Valley by 42 strokes (152-194) and to Buckeye Valley by 17 (177-194).
Evan Huggins was low man for the locals with a 42. Bryce Lybarger carded a 46, Mitchell Dyer netted a 52, and Nick Kruger recorded a 54. Brevin Owens tallied a drop score of 57.
Faulkner of River Valley was match medalist with a 34. Also for the Vikings, Orewiler shot a 38, while Chapman and Woodruff each had 40.
Fridley was Buckeye Valley’s low man with a 42.
On Thursday at the Galion Country Club, the Tigers were bested by Jonathan Alder, 170-192.
Huggins again had the low score for the Orange-and-Blue with a 41. Lybarger tallied a 48, Kruger, 50; and Owens, 53. Dyer (58) and Sam Rigdon (59) were drop scores.
For the visitors, Connor Lombardi and Jon Peters each had 41, Logan Woods shot a 42, and Lucas McCloskie registered a 46.
