Capital University Announces academic honors lists


BEXLEY, OH — Capital University has announced three honors lists. The President’s List indicates the highest level of academic distinction achieved among full-time, degree-seeking students. To be named to the President’s List, students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.85.


The following area students achieved this honor:


Tyler Gates of Crestline, OH


Charles Kimerline of Galion, OH


The Dean’s List recognizes academic distinction achieved among full-time, degree-seeking students. To be named to Capital’s Dean’s List students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the spring 2014 semester.


The following area students achieved this honor:


Peyton Beachy of Galion, OH (44833)


Bailey Schott of Bucyrus, OH (44820)


The Provost’s List recognizes a high level of academic distinction achieved among full-time, degree-seeking students. To be named to the Provost’s List, students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.70 during the spring 2014 semester.

Anna Salvati receives prestigious scholarship


AKRON, OH — Congratulations to Anna Salvati of Crestline, OH for receiving the Joanne J. Daverio Scholarship in Fine and Applied Arts. The Joanne J. Daverio Scholarship in Fine and Applied Arts was established to honor the memory of Joanne, a 1959 graduate with a degree in Speech. Anna plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design at UA.


Wittenberg University Celebrates Benjamin Longstreth, Class of 2014, in 169th Commencement Exercises


SPRINGFIELD, OH — Benjamin Longstreth, class of 2014 from Galion, OH, marched as a degree candidate from Wittenberg University on May 17, 2014, during the 169th Commencement Exercises in idyllic Commencement Hollow.


University President Laurie Joyner led the Commencement celebration, welcoming the 400 members of the Class of 2014 into the prestigious ranks of Wittenberg alumni. She also introduced three distinguished guests, the 2014 Commencement speaker, Olympic Gold Medalist and award-winning sports journalist Donna de Varona, William Steinbrink ‘64, chair of Wittenberg’s Board of Directors from 2005-2008 and the university’s interim president in 2004-2005, and nationally recognized composer and organist Robert Hobby ‘85.


UF Announces Spring 2014 Dean’s List


FINDLAY, OH — The following local students were named to the Spring 2014 Dean’s List at The University of Findlay. To earn this achievement, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
