Mammoth historic home features winery, event space and 1,200-square-foot suite
BELLVILLE—A new bed and breakfast inn has opened in the delightful small town of Bellville, Ohio, just 10 miles south of Mansfield. After a year of dramatic renovations, a local family opened Wishmaker House in a beautifully restored historic home. Featuring eight guestrooms, a stunning 1,200-square-foot suite, a common living area and a state-of-the-art kitchen, Wishmaker House is the perfect blend of modern and historic. Dramatic artisan details found throughout include hand-crafted and restored woodwork, stained-glass windows and doors, repurposed antiques and locally made works of art. Details and booking information are found at www.WishmakerHouse.com, with complete area visitor information available at www.MansfieldTourism.com.
Brad and Karen Smith bought the 10,000-square-foot historic 1890s structure with no plans to launch a bed and breakfast, and every intention of making it their family home. But after the Smiths – who own the local hardware store — began restoring the once-vacant former physician’s office, the family decided to act on Karen and daughter Cassie’s longtime dream of owning a B&B. All eight guestrooms feature a deluxe, private, en suite bath, complimentary internet access and TV. A full, home-cooked breakfast is included every morning. The large, gourmet kitchen, bar area, outdoor patio and front porch are not only great for relaxing and taking in Bellville’s home-town feel, but also make Wishmaker House ideal for intimate weddings, parties, meetings, reunions or luncheons.
In addition to offering visitors to this beautiful, pastoral area of north central Ohio a luxurious bed and breakfast experience, the Smiths will add a Winery and Wine Bar, both of which are set to open in March. They’ll feature wine made on-site with grapes grown in Ohio and New York with tastings, wine by the bottle or glass and light snacks. The winery will be open Monday-Saturday, and the Wine Bar will be open Thursday-Saturday, 4-10 p.m. Located just minutes from top area attractions, such as Snow Trails Ski Resort, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Ohio State Reformatory, the Shawshank Trail, and Malabar Farm and Mohican State Park, Wishmaker House Bed and Breakfast is the perfect location to relax after a day on the ski slopes, a haunting ghost hunt or a thrilling race at the track.
