The Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District will hold a special election to elect two supervisors to the board. This year two (2) Crawford SWCD supervisors will be elected to a three-year term of office commencing January 1, 2015. The terms of current supervisors Kent Stuckey and Lorraine Walter expire on December 31, 2014.
There are two ways for potential candidates seeking election to the board to get on the ballot. Any person 18 years of age or older who resides within Crawford county can seek election to the SWCD board of supervisors. Interested individuals can contact the SWCD nominating committee chairman Tom Miller at 419-563-7188 by July 25th in order to be nominated as a supervisor candidate. The committee will nominate a minimum of three candidates this year. This committee works throughout the year looking for candidates who are interested in the conservation and protection of natural resources within the county.
Potential candidates may also stop at the SWCD office, 3111 State Route 98, Bucyrus, Ohio and pick up a self-nomination petition form. They will need to secure at least 10 signatures from Crawford County residents and/or landowners and submit the petition to the district by the close of business on August 5, 2014. Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements and deadline will be listed on the ballot for the special election.
The election will take place on September 9, 2014 at the Crawford SWCD office from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and at the annual meeting, Crawford County Fairgrounds Youth Building, 610 Whetstone Street, Bucyrus, Ohio from 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. Those unable to vote on September 9th may vote by absentee ballot beginning August 19th.
