DELPHOS — A Delphos man was arrested on suspicion for murder after allegedly shooting his wife on Thursday.
According to a report from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Patrick D. Collar, 43, of Delphos, went to the Delphos Police Department at approximately 6 p.m. and reported that he had shot his wife earlier in the day in a cornfield off of Jones Road. Collar took Delphos officers to the cornfield where they found Gerri L Collar, 42, dead from a gunshot wound.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and met with the Delphos officers. Collar was transported to the Allen County Jail.
Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish said Collar was still being questioned as of 11 p.m. Thursday, so other details were not available. Sheriff’s detectives are continuing the investigation and Crish said more information on the incident may be available today.
