On February 20 Crestline Board of Education held a meeting in the media center of the high school. Lori Cochran of the booster club and PTO gave a few updates as the meeting started. She started off by saying that shoot for a cure will take place on February 21. This event is a cancer awareness fundraiser that starts with a spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m. There will be over fifty items available for raffle. The money will go to support two local families that have been affected by cancer. Cochran also said that a bowling fundraiser will be taking place in Bucyrus on March 22. That will go to support the booster club. As far as PTO news goes Cochran said that movie night will be taking place on February 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the school. There they will be showing Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2. She also stated that the recent fundraiser food nights have been a success with $160 for PTO being raised at CiCi’s restaurant. Also, the youth fair will be taking place on March 13 at Shenanigans in Crestline. Children’s groups are invited to attend the event. Cochran also said that the craft show back in November was a huge success as three hundred children participated and $600 has been paid out to student groups. The one concern she had was they were charged $300 for using the school and Cochran asked council to reconsider making them pay for it or reducing the amount to be paid.

The staff employees of the month were announced during the council meeting. They were middle school math teach Isaac Keinath, and custodian Davy Hoffman. Ric Cochran who is the in charge of building and grounds spoke about some of the additions they would like to make to the school. One of those is adding changing tables to the bathroom facilities outside and the other is the possibility of adding an indoor batting cage into the middle school gym. The board is currently looking at different companies who could install the structure and have yet to determine who they will go with. They did however look at the one that Galion High School has and decided that what they want is similar as it would lower down from the ceiling. The school currently has some donations they can use for the project.

There were several items on the consent agenda that were voted on during the meeting. The first of which was two donations from the Crestline Eagles in amounts of $749.80 for cheerleading uniforms and $1000 for the JSA trip to Washington DC. There were also several change orders to be voted on to help take care of what they still owe on the building project. These were for Rietschlin Construction and as follows. $4,929.92 for the flattening of the slope on the practice field, $850.59 for the medication of the fence around the playground to allow student access to the drinking fountain, $1,926.48 for repairs to conduits adjacent to the loading dock and parking lot, $1,076.63 for temporary stone access from the student parking lot to building while the new parking lot was under construction, and $7,829.53 for undercutting geo-grid fabric and stone backfill for unsuitable areas of the parking lot where soft sub-soil are was detected. Also, there were two substitute bus drivers who were hired in as well as a number of sports coaches which included Steve Garberich as head golf coach, Tiffany Martin as girls tennis coach, Lee Hurst as head football coach, Bill Christman as head cross-country coach, Todd Golownia as varsity softball assistant, Stacy Kelly as JV head softball coach, Tiffany Martin as head boys tennis coach, Rob Norwood as varsity baseball assistant, and Troy Perry and Kevin Taylor for JV baseball. The only person who was not approved was Katie Stasen for the JV softball assistant and head volleyball coach positions. It was also approved to allow the treasurer to enter into contract with Miley Reality and Auctioneers for the sale of a plot of acreage on the school district premises. They have a tentative date for the sale which will be April 5.
