The Galion Center YMCA is currently working on a one million dollar renovation project that is scheduled to be completed by September 1. Renovations include an improved fitness center with new strength and cardio equipment. Director Terry Gribble said the renovation will allow for the strength and cardio equipment to be split into two different rooms. The locker rooms will also be getting a remodel. Some of the renovations include new tile and flooring. The parking lot will also be getting a makeover in August as part of the project. It will be repaved during that time. There were also recent roofing and lighting replacements as part of the project. The project has been several years in the making and is funded mainly through donations and some grants. Gribble said that there were seventeen donors who donated $10,000 or more. The largest donation was $100,000. Donors include individuals and industries. When the renovations are complete in September Gribble said there will be a grand opening ceremony where some of the rooms will be named in honor of the donors.
