Tigers, Lady Tigers sink Madison tankers

In their final home meet of the season, the GHS boys’ and girls’ swim teams defeated visiting Madison last Thursday.
The Tigers nearly doubled-up the visiting Rams, besting them by a 58-34 margin. The Lady Tigers were 53-41 winners.
The boys won all but two events. Individual victors were: Sam DeNero, 50 freestyle, 23.66, and the 100 freestyle, 53.96; Zane Ekin in the 200 individual medley, 2:09.30, and the 100 butterfly, 57.57; Chad Karnes, 200 freestyle, 2:01.30, and the 500 freestyle, time on score sheet unreadable.
Triumphant relay squads were the 200 medley quartet of Logan Amos, DeNero, Ekin and Karnes at 4:51.11; those same four in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.25; plus Logan Amos, Tanner Amos, John Finch and Evan Zumbro in the 400 freestyle relay with a faring of 4:11.33.
Picking up first-place points for the Lady Tigers were: Sam Altstadt, 200 freestyle, 2:25.14, and the 500 freestyle, time on score sheet unreadable; Kennedy Gregg, 100 backstroke, 1:38.28; Caroline Shifley, 100 butterfly, 1:10.69; Bri Wallis, 200 individual medley, 2:41.86; and Liz Valentine, 100 breaststroke, 1:28.66. Also winning was the 200 medley relay squad of Gregg, Valentine, Shifley and Wallis with a time of 2:18.57.
