Editor,

Crestline has lost many things of late. The hospital is gone, Geauga gone, Geyers gone, Kiwanis Club gone, Red Cross local control gone, and the Chamber of Commerce that merged with Galion is also gone. Now the last straw, our lovely Santa house is gone.

The Santa house was made by the Crestline High School (CHS) students for the children of Crestline to enjoy while visiting with Santa. Why? It was an asset to our town with all of the comforts built in, such as, heater, electricity, and décor, which is something for Crestline to be proud of. I have asked around town to see how this could happen. So far I am being told that it was owned by the Chamber of Commerce, and given to the CHS Booster club to be made into two ticket booths for the new football field (which is not complete yet). I would like to know how this decision was decided upon?

The Crestline Community Development team and the Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) are trying to keep the Santa parade tradition alive as best as they can. Did anyone offer the PTO or the Crestline Community Development team the house? Due to the Santa house being taken, the children will now have to visit Santa upstairs of Shennanigans. As it is wonderful for them to offer to host this, it would be better suited to have the children visit Santa in the house which was centrally located. To visit Santa upstairs, the parents will have to take strollers along with their toddlers up the steep steps. Grandparents will also want to participate in watching the joy on the small childs face. The steep stairs will cause the elderly to ambulate up the steps with their canes and walkers. If they are wheelchair bound, they will have to miss the special visit with Santa.

Wouldn’t it be better suited to have this in an easily accessible location, such as, City Hall lobby, Mini Mall Hallway, or the Golden Age Center? In fact, how about just BRING BACK THE SANTA HOUSE! How much more is the town of Crestline going to lose? And one more thing, it is not nice to mess with Santa, it is down right NAUGHTY. Merry Christmas Crestline!
