Galion students honor veterans with a Wall of Heroes

GALION — Students at Galion’s primary and intermediate Schools are saying thanks to veterans this year through a Wall of Heroes display in each building. Veterans and others in the community were invited to visit the display Thursday.

Students worked for several weeks on the project that was designed to honor their family members or friends who have served in the Armed Forces.

“It is imperative that we make sure our students understand the importance of Veteran’s Day to the history of our country,” said Intermediate School Principal Alex Sharick. “Our teachers and staff do a great job each year developing new ideas to help our students learn the importance of Veteran’s Day, as helping students find new and creative avenues to show their gratitude for our service men and women.”

The Leader in Me Student Lighthouse committees in both buildings greeted community members and veterans as they entered each building. These students also served cookies and punch to those who visited the Wall of Heroes displays.
