McCafe Sampling Vehicle to sample coffees at corner of High Street and Broad Street in Columbus on March 31 to jumpstart offer of a free small McCafé coffee during breakfast hours from March 31 through April 13


[COLUMBUS, OH] March 28, 2014 – McCafé invites coffee drinkers in Columbus to wake up and taste the free coffee. Beginning March 31, customers can stop by their local participating McDonald’s restaurant for a freshly brewed small McCafé coffee during McDonald’s first-ever national Free Coffee Event.


“We’re excited to share our coffee with our Columbus customers,” said Brian Mortellaro, local McDonald’s owner/operator. “This is a great opportunity for them to try McCafé coffee and gives them another reason to come to us in the morning.”


To kick off the two-week campaign, McDonald’s is offering Columbus commuters a special surprise with free McCafé coffee through a “Make Friends with McCafé” sampling event. A McDonald’s team will be downtown at Broad and High on March 31 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. distributing free coffee.


The free small McCafé coffee promotion runs March 31 through April 13, but if customers need an extra dose of caffeine during the two weeks, they can upgrade toa medium for .25 cents or a large for only .50 cents. Starting in mid-April, McCafé will also surprise a Twitter follower every day this year with McCafé coffee and prizes. Fans can also keep up with the conversations using the hash tag #McCafe or by following @McCafe.


McDonald’s launched its McCafé line-up in the U.S. in 2009. The collection included McCafé’s signature blend coffee and quickly expanded to include iced coffees, espresso-based drinks, such as lattes and mochas, blended-ice beverages including smoothies and frappes, triple thick shakes as well as limited-time seasonal offerings.
