BUCYRUS, OHIO (Feb. 14, 2014) – Crawford: 20/20 Vision will celebrate community accomplishments at this year’s State of the Vision dinner, March 18 at Galion Free Methodist Church. Vision leaders will recognize the collaborative efforts of volunteers, investors and action teams but, most of all, its citizens.

“As a community, we’ve agreed that we have some significant challenges to overcome. But after several years of hard work, we need to pause to acknowledge how far we’ve come since our journey together began in 2010,” said Dave Williamson, director of The Crawford County Partnership for Education and Economic Development. “Our county is making powerful strides in recovery, to become a sustainable place to do business and raise families.”

Keynote speaker for the evening will be former OSU running back Maurice Clarett. Now a speaker and philanthropist, Clarett saw a promising football career derailed by choices that included drugs, alcohol and, eventually, prison. Rather than give up, he decided to find another calling and turned his life around. “We wanted to bring Maurice here because we think his message is inspiring and relevant to what we struggle with right here in Crawford County,” said Galion Chief of Police Brian Saterfield, who also chairs Crawford: 20/20 Vision’s Public Safety and Drug Abuse Action Team.

Clarett and Crawford: 20/20 Vision are sharing a theme for the night—one that the Vision hopes the community will embrace moving forward: “It’s worth the fight!” This theme ties into Clarett’s fight to reform his life and into Crawford County’s fight to grow and prosper. Leaders, investors and volunteers who have fought daily to strengthen Crawford County will be honored at the event.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., dinner will be at 6 p.m. and the program and leadership celebration will follow. Hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert will be catered by Avita Health Systems. Tickets are $30 per person or $200 per table of eight. The RSVP deadline is March 10. To make your reservation, call Michelle Failor, 419-563-1809, or email michellef@crawford-co.org.
