The Buckeye Central Board of Education held an organizational meeting on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 7:00pm at Buckeye Central Local School. The following new board members were sworn in: Steve Aichholz, Beth Diesch and Chris Martin. Missy McDougal was elected as Board President and Steve Aichholz was elected as Vice President.

The following appointments were approved:

OSBA Legislative Liaison – Chris Martin

OSBA Student Achievement Liaison – Beth Diesch

Policy Sub-Committee – Steve Aichholz and Beth Diesch

Negotiations Representative – Missy McDougal

Booster Representatives: Athletic, Missy McDougal and Music, Mike Kalb

The Buckeye Central Board of Education will continue to hold their regular monthly board meetings on the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm at Buckeye Central Local School.

All of the Superintendents Annual Recommendations were approved.

The Buckeye Central Board of Education held a special meeting on Thursday, January 2, 2014 following the organizational meeting at Buckeye Central Local School. The board went onto executive session to discuss the employment/compensation of public employees.

The board came out of executive session and the following action was taken: The Board approved the Transition Agreement between Superintendent Meyerink and the Buckeye Central Local Board of Education. Board president McDougal recommended that the board employ Mark Heydinger as Musical Director and the recommendation was approved by the board. The Board then went into executive session to discuss next steps to secure an interim Superintendent. No action was taken.

Treasurer’s report was presented and financial reports were approved.

Superintendent’s Reports:

The main focus is to get the teacher and administrator evaluations completed this month. Information on the community schools was shared. Superintendent Meyerink gave informational documentation to the board members.

The board approved the following Superintendent recommendations:

- A building usage request BCHS NHS Run/Walk 5K to use the cafeteria and restrooms on December 28 with Amy Betts in charge

- District membership to Metropolitan Educational Council

- Hire the following certificated staff: Joe Wiles, Boys Track Head Coach, Jeff Niedermier, Boys Track Assistant Coach, Chad Jensen, Baseball Head Coach and Tyler Baseball Assistant Coach

- Cori Skidmore as a substitute bus driver

- Andy Sulver as substitute custodian

- Hire the following nonteaching individuals: Roger Durnwald Softball Head Coach, Elizabeth Petrie Softball JV Coach and Mike Dean Baseball JV Coach

The board went into executive session for the purposes of discussing employment and compensation of a public employee, to consider the purchase or sale of property, and matters required by Federal/State law to be kept confidential. No action was taken.

The Buckeye Central Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 15. The next regular meeting is Feb. 13. at 7 p.m. at Buckeye Central Local School, 938 South Kibler Street, New Washington, in the Multi-Purpose Room. The public participation request form is available on the District’s website and due to the Superintendent by the first of the month.
