Ontario church makes dresses for Haiti

Entering Giffin Hall inside the Ontario United Methodist Church, the efforts of many talented seamstresses become very visible! Lining the walls are dozens of beautiful colored dresses soon to be on their way to the island nation of Haiti. For the past two years ladies from the OUMC congregation have handmade with love outfits for children (both boys and girls) to be sent to our neighbors in need. Many of the dresses were made from pillow cases and remnants of any colors, prints, plaids or stripes that were found to be inexpensive and fun. Heading the Haiti Ministry is Jean Wagenman, longtime member of the church. Other volunteers from the church include Jackie Motley, Sue Wills, Darlene Taylor, Karin Starbucks, Rachel Miller and Carol Roberts. Outfits, being modeled by children of the church, gave the congregation an idea of how creative and unique they were and how they would certainly thrill the hearts of the children receiving them. The clothing will be sent within the next two weeks and the ladies will begin sewing for another year’s project!
