The groundbreaking for the new hotel in Galion will take place at noon on March 22.

The $5.5 million hotel project was originally intended to build a Sleep Inn & Mainstay Suites hotel with 70 beds, according to previous Inquirer reports.

But the project will instead bring a Sleep Inn & Suites hotel with about 60 beds, said Matt Echelberry, communications director for the City of Galion.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony at the northwest corner of state Route 598 and Brandt Road. A portion of Brandt Road, westside of 598, will be closed to traffic.

Parking will be availble on the road side.

Officials will provide brief comments about the project prior to the actual groundbreaking.

Speakers wil include someone from the City of Galion, Choice Hotels International, Winesburg Builders and the Crawford County Partnership for Education & Economic Development.
