Being home for the holidays is what the season is all about, especially to those serving in the United States Armed Forces.
For a pair of 2015 Clear Fork graduates, who happen to be recently engaged and currently serving their country in the United States Navy, coming home to the Valley put extra cheer in their’s and their families’ Christmas season.
The newly engaged couple, Emma Rubeck and James Benear, were granted a week’s break from training with the country’s naval force and have returned to a welcoming greeting.
“It’s very very nice to be home,” Rubeck said. “I love coming back to all my family and friends and all the people I’ve grown up with.”
The pair paid a visit to their Alma mater on Monday morning as part of their return.
“Having her home is the best thing in the world,” said Heidi, Emma’s mother. “We are a tight-knit family. She is my oldest and was the first to leave the house, so it was pretty rough to have her go.”
Rubeck was shipped off just a few short months after her high school graduation, on Aug. 2. She is currently training at Corry Station located in Pensacola, FL.
“It’s a hard edge to walk of being proud of her and wanting her home,” Heidi said. “It’s great to see her so happy and to have found her niche in life at such a young age.”
Her finance, Benear, was also station at the facility until recently when he was transferred to Oklahoma, as an Aviation Structural Mechanic Airman Apprentice. Rubeck is currently ranked as a Seaman Apprentice.
“We’ve been best friends forever,” Emma said of her future husband. “I’m glad we get to share this adventure together.”
The two are home until Dec. 26. Neither has been given their future deployment orders, but the Rubecks are currently busy celebrating her time here.
“We can rest easy now having both our babies in the house,” Heidi said.
James Benear is the son of Mike and Kathie Benear, and Emma is the daughter of Jason and Heidi Rubeck.
