Gill House plans holiday open house

0

What is becoming an annual local tradition is taking place again this Saturday, December 19, this time featuring both past favorites and new events.

The Gill House will hold a holiday open house 1-4 p.m. Dec. 19 in Galion.

The event includes:

⦁ The first and second floors of the Gill House will be available for tours at no charge.

⦁ Music will fill the halls with carolers at 1:00 p.m., and a brass choir at 2:00 p.m., and holiday goodies will be available for eating.

⦁ The newly-painted Parlor, the first of the Gill House rooms to be re-painted in early colors, will be open for visitors.

⦁ New details of the house’s history learned during 2015 will be shared.

⦁ For only the second time — and the very first time since heat has returned to the house — the Gill Family home movies will be shown. In addition to images of many familiar Galion faces, particularly those of the Gill Family, several scenes of 1930s and 1940s Galion will appear — including a view of the Galion Tiger Marching Band marching through Public Square; the then-new community swimming pool; and images of skaters on the old iced-over pond n Heise Park.

There is no charge for this event, however donations will be accepted and go toward the Gill House rescue and renovation effort.
