For the second year, The Community Foundation for Crawford County held its annual Match Day fundraiser in conjunction with #GivingTuesday. The first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, just as Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days synonymous with holiday shopping.

“This year’s Match Day, held last week on #GivingTuesday, was a huge success,” explained Lisa Workman, the Foundation’s President. “Through social media, the web, press releases and parties, we invited Crawford County to join us in soliciting their friends and contacts, asking for donations to the foundation.” On Dec. 1, the Community raised over $85,000, surpassing last year’s event by over $35,000.

“This was a record fundraiser for us,” exclaimed Justin McMullen, Development Committee Chairman and member of the Foundation Board of Trustees. He added that the Foundation’s Board is contributing an additional $25,000 to the funds of the participating agencies and schools. “Together, that’s a combined $110,000 going towards good causes right here in Crawford County. We are so grateful to live in such a giving community, and this year’s generosity has absolutely amazed us.”

Next year’s Match Day will be held on #GivingTuesday, Dec. 6, 2016.
