Galion firefighters Doug Hall and Jay Gaffney work on their certification Thursday at Amanns Reservoir. They are part of a new Galion Underwater Response Team, which was activated after its seven members finished certification this week. The group will be available to help Crawford County in human rescue and recovery as well as evidence and vehicle recovery from bodies of water.

Galion firefighter Keith Nickler helps Lt. Jeff Pennington with his scuba equipment. The team was able to raise $85,000 for its equipment through a federal grant along with local contributions from groups such as the Galion VFW, Avita Health System and Amvets.
