BUCYRUS – A Galion man accused of rape was one of many defendants that were scheduled to be arraigned in Crawford County Common Pleas Court this week.

Maximino Hernandez, 51, 494 Grand St., had his arraignment postponed until a later date. He was indicted by the Crawford County Grand Jury on June 8 on one count of rape, a first-degree felony. His bond of $500,000 originally set in Crawford County Municipal Court was continued.

Judge Shane Leuthold attributed the high bond he set in the case to the fact that Hernandez has only lived in the community for 10 months and is in the United States on a visa.

Hernandez had been working as a dishwasher at El Tarasco, a Galion restaurant, since he arrived in the country.

If convicted, Hernandez faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Forty-three-year-old Torin T. Jones, 140 Heritage Circle, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Monday to one count of drug possession, a third-degree felony. His $1 million bond was continued.
