Galion High School senior Jun Hao Zheng (pronounced Jhun-How-Zing) has been named a Commended Student in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the High School and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, has been presented by High School Principal Ron Williams to this scholastically talented senior.

About 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2016 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“On behalf of the Board of Education and entire Galion City School District, I want to congratulate Jun for earning the recognition of Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program,” Superintendent James Grubbs said. “He is a model student at Galion High School, and this recognition shows that great things can happen for Galion students who dedicate themselves to success in the classroom.”
