Crawford County Retired Teachers hold September meeting

48 members of Crawford County Retired Teachers group met at Lowe Volk Park for box lunches from Carle’s on Sept. 21.

The meeting was opened by Nelda Spore leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Dave Smith presented devotional readings emphasizing helping others.

Box lunches of various sandwiches and salads were enjoyed by the group.

Mr. Josh Dyer spoke on Monarch migration and the life of Johnny Chapman Appleseed.

Nelda reported $4602.95 in the treasury. Joann Standley moved, Jan Maddy seconded the motion to accept the report.

Joan Heft read the secretary’s report from June 15. Jan Maddy moved and Joann Standley seconded the accept the report.

Richard Stearns reported on the actions of the Legislative Committee. Returns of the Pension Division are at a lower point right now than they have been, but are starting to raise. Senator Orin Hatch is working to gain control of the fund and place it in Medicare. We need to keep our membership numbers up to have any say in what is happening.

Mary Thomas ORTA spoke on what they do to keep an eye on our funds. She encouraged us to get involved.

The next meeting will be November 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church , Thoman Avenue, Crestline, Ohio.
