A North Bloomfield man was happy at the generosity of a Galion police officer who paid for his meal early Monday morning at the city’s Taco Bell drive-thru.

A picture posted online by 19-year-old Connor Coulson quickly went viral yesterday with 100 shares from his personal page alone.

According to Coulson, the officer, who didn’t disclose his name, was in front of him in line and paid for his $6.17 meal about 1:30 a.m.

“When I got to the window, the worker told me that the officer said he would pay for the Sube,” Coulson said, referring to the Subaru vehicle he was driving.

Kyle Branam, a manager at the store who was working the drive-thru during the random act of kindness, says he was happy to see an officer pay it forward.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen an officer do this,” Branam said. “You don’t always hear positive things about officers, but it was nice to see. It shows that people think about others. Nice to know there’s decent people out there. It gives people a good view of officers in town.”

Branam said he’s had five cars in a row pay for the vehicle behind them before.

“It’s happening more often than it used to,” said Stacy Ridenour, another manager at the store. “People say they want to grab the car behind them.”

As for Coulson, he said the random act of kindness was appreciated.

“It made me feel good,” he said. “It’s nice to see good officers do exist and that people help each out.”
