The Bucyrus City School District Board of Education and the Bucyrus Organization of School Support (BOSS) have reached an agreement on a new multi-year contract for support staff in the district. The Board voted unanimously to ratify the new contract during its regular monthly meeting August 27.

“We are very pleased that BOSS and the Board of Education were able to reach an agreement,” Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “The negotiation teams worked diligently to put together a contract that benefits the entire Bucyrus City School District.”

The new agreement will be in effect through July 31, 2018, and includes the implementation of an Insurance Committee that provides more ownership to the employees with respect to the design of their insurance plans.

“We are very glad to have this process completed and a new contract for our members through the 2017-2018 school year,” BOSS President Linda Snyder said. “Our membership is pleased with the overall contract, and they are excited to continue working to help make the Bucyrus City Schools the district of choice in north central Ohio.”

“On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to thank our support staff, their negotiating team and the BOSS leadership for their unwavering support of the district,” Board of Education President Brad Murtiff said. “We are very pleased with the new agreement, and appreciate BOSS’ willingness to agree to work with us to reach a new contract that helps the district as we navigate the ever changing landscape of school finances.”
