Open house to display new fire truck

The Galion Fire Department will host a open house 6-8 p.m. Sept. 2 to show off the department’s new aerial fire truck.

“We wanted to open the doors to the community,” Fire Chief Phil Jackson said. “They can ask any questions they want, they can look at the truck, pick up fire detectors or a reflective house sign.”

Jackson said the truck is in service and all firefighters have been trained on how to use it, but it hasn’t been used yet.

“It’s just been in training,” he said. “(We) buy it with the hopes you don’t have to use it, but I am sure we will and we want to make sure we are up to speed with it when we do.”

Jackson said the department is just waiting on mounting brackets for the truck.
