BUCYRUS — Sixteen students from the Pioneer/Bucyrus Marketing and Media Satellite
programs competed at the Ohio DECA Career Development Conference March 18 and 19 in Columbus, Ohio. To be eligible to compete, participants were required to qualify at the District competition held January 31 at Ohio Northern
University.

Three Pioneer Bucyrus students qualified for DECA’s International Career and Development Conference from the State Competition and will go on to compete April 26-29 in Anaheim, California.

Students qualifying for the International Conference included: Bailey Plumley (1st place & State Champion, Apparel and Accessories Marketing Series); Brianna Predieri (4th place, Hospitality and Tourism Business Operations Research); Brooklyn Spears (4th place,
Sports and Entertainment Marketing Series).
Plumley and Spears’ series projects each involved a marketing concept test and a case study/role play
presentation. Predieri’s operations research project was a 30-page written manual on improving a local business using social media, mobile marketing and local marketing.

“Having three students qualify for the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim is a great accomplishment for the Pioneer/Bucyrus DECA program,” said Media Communications Instructor Jeff Funigiello. “We have great students in this building and to have their knowledge, hard work and personality show through in these projects and be recognized at an international level is incredible.”
Five additional students were named finalists or placed in the Top 10.

This group of students included: Maggie
Weir (Finalist, Human Resources Management Series); Robert McComas (Top 10, Quick Serve Restaurant Management Series); Earl Jefferson (Top 10, Food Marketing Series); Kaden Wilson (Top 10, Buying and Merchandising Business Operations Research) and Loarel Mollenkopf (Top 10, Independent Business Plan).
