Bucyrus man accused of raping child

BUCYRUS — A Bucyrus man accused of raping a 5-year-old girl was arraigned in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Monday.

Donald C. Fisher, 55, pleaded not guilty to one count of rape, a first-degree felony. Judge Sean Leuthold increased Fisher’s $2 million bond, originally set in Crawford County Municipal Court, to $3 million.

Fisher is accused of raping a 5-year-old girl left in his care on Feb. 27. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.

Fisher was convicted of two previous felonies, including one charge of gross sexual imposition in 1988.

Leuthold appointed Mansfield attorney James Mayer to represent Fisher.

Others arraigned on Monday include:

Tanya S. Laferty, Bucyrus, tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, bond set at $250,000.

Angela R. Chatman, 45, Bucyrus, two counts of possession of drugs, both fifth-degree felonies, and one count of misdemeanor possession of drugs, bond set at $75,000.

Bonnie Hart, 36, Galion, theft, a fifth-degree felony, personal recognizance bond.

Kelly Mayer, 38, Marion, nonsupport or contributing to nonsupport of dependents, a fifth-degree felony, personal recognizance bond.
