GALION – Kayley Gimbel, a junior at Galion High School, is the January 2017 Student of the Month. The positive character trait for January was “showing acceptance of others.”

Kayley was selected from a group of more than 20 of her peers nominated for January 2017 Student of the Month: Katie Baughn, Melanie Blair, Haylee Carroll, Clarissa Castle, Jared Dixon, Keaton Durbin, Wyatt Enders, Anastasia Ensminger, Faith Eutsey, Rachel Griffith, Jesi Hart, Alison Longwell, Gillian Miller, Gavin Pennington, Natalie Rodriguez, Thomas Ross-Fox, Lauren Rudolph, Garrett Saunders, Tyler Scott, Brandon Stevens and Cady Watkins.

“Being selected as the Student of the Month means that I am recognized for my character,” said Gimbel. “It also means others have noticed my ability to be around a variety of people and to make people feel welcome to be themselves.”

Kayley is a member of Key Club and Junior Teen Institute, and is a member of the girls tennis team. She also shows quarter horses on the national level. Following graduation, Gimbel plans to pursue education in the health/medical field and participate in college level athletics in equestrian competitions or tennis.

“Kayley shows acceptance of others every day and is a good role model for students,” said High School Principal Ron Williams. “She is very deserving of this honor and I am excited to see what the future holds for her.”
