Friends of the library book sale starts Thursday

GALION — The Friends of the Galion Public Library have their traditional Fall Book Sale on Oct. 27, 28 and 29. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. All sales are on a donation basis.

Throughout the year Pam Jourdan and her committee diligently sort through all donated books. Each book is checked for missing pages, marks, tears, odors, etc.

Those that do not meet the high quality standards are discarded. Only those books that are in very good to excellent condition make it to the sale, where they are categorized by history, novels, cookbooks, biographies, romance, paperbacks, etc. Included are many cooking, science, decorating, etc. magazines. There is a room dedicated just for childrens’ books. Also included at this book sale are popular CD’s, DVD and simple to multi-piece puzzles.

Through donations the Friends have accumulated some older ephemera paper items which will be offered at this sale. Those items include a 1940s movie star magazine, some vintage postcards, (including World War I Red Cross soldiers), old books, 1920s sheet music ,plus other interesting vintage paper items.

The Friends are grateful for the many people though out the year who donate their gently used books to the library for these sales. There are some who have donated their complete personal libraries which have included cookbooks, signed books, magic books, comic books, first edition books and other quality collections.

If you need assistance in donating your collection, please call the Library and arrangements can be made to accommodate your generosity. The Friends along with the help from the community look forward to a very successful sale.
