BUCYRUS — Super heroes are fictitious characters created to embody strong morals and values, while saving the world from evil. While super heroes may not exist at Bucyrus Elementary School, Super Leaders certainly do show themselves every day.
The building’s administrators and Specials (music, art and physical education) teachers have teamed up to create this new recognition program to recognize students for displaying the 7 Habits outlined in The Leader in Me Program.
One student in each grade level, first through fifth, is selected as a Super Leader each month.
“This is a new program I wanted to start to help our students learn how to implement the 7 Habits,” said Erica Dietzel, Elementary School Principal. “Our Specials teachers are the perfect people to select the Super Leaders because they have the opportunity to see all the students on a daily basis in each grade level.”
Students who are selected as Super Leaders each month receive a Certificate of Achievement and enjoy lunch with Ms. Dietzel. The Super Leaders for September included: Anthony Dagher (first grade), Joslyn Lykins (second grade), Devin Aurand (third grade), Allory Meade (fourth grade) and Deven Deskins (fifth grade).
“I’m very proud of all our students, and I’m excited to recognize their great leadership qualities,” said Dietzel. “My hope is that students will continue working on the leadership skills they learn through The Leader in Me program well beyond the walls of our school.”
